It consists of the pentapeptide pentixather, which targets the CXC chemokine receptor type 4 (CXCR4), a receptor overexpressed in various cancers and implicated in tumor growth and metastasis. The compound is labeled with fluorine-18 via an aluminum fluoride (Al^18^F) chelation to NOTA (1,4,7-triazacyclononane-triacetic acid), enabling high-resolution PET imaging. Compared to other CXCR4-targeting tracers like [68Ga]pentixafor, it offers improved affinity for CXCR4 and favorable pharmacokinetics for clinical imaging applications. Its primary use is noninvasive detection of diseases associated with CXCR4 expression such as certain lymphomas and suspected primary hyperaldosteronism[1][2][6].
