Overview

**18F-DCFBC** is a low-molecular-weight radiopharmaceutical used as a positron emission tomography (PET) imaging agent. It specifically targets the prostate-specific membrane antigen (PSMA), which is highly expressed in prostate cancer cells and associated with higher tumor grade and aggressive disease. Upon intravenous administration, 18F-DCFBC binds to PSMA-expressing tumor cells, allowing for their visualization using PET/CT imaging. This agent has been investigated primarily for the detection and characterization of primary and metastatic prostate cancer, showing high specificity for clinically significant high-grade lesions. The compound consists of a PSMA-targeted ligand labeled with the positron-emitting isotope fluorine F 18[2][4][5].
