18F-DX600 is a fluorine-18 labeled radiopharmaceutical probe designed for positron emission tomography (PET) imaging of angiotensin-converting enzyme 2 (ACE2) expression. Developed by the Cancer Hospital of Peking University, the tracer utilizes DX600, a highly potent and selective cyclic peptide antagonist of ACE2, as its targeting moiety. ACE2 is a critical regulatory enzyme in the renin-angiotensin system and serves as the primary cellular entry point for the SARS-CoV-2 virus; it is also frequently overexpressed in various malignancies, including renal cell carcinoma and lung cancer, where it may modulate tumor progression. 18F-DX600 is primarily employed in clinical research to non-invasively map the biodistribution of ACE2 and evaluate its potential as a diagnostic biomarker or a tool for monitoring therapeutic response in patients with solid tumors.
