Drug intelligence / Profile preview
18F-FC211 is a fluorine-18 labeled small molecule radiopharmaceutical developed by FutureChem Pharma for the positron emission tomography (PET) imaging of tau protein pathology. Tau protein aggregates are a hallmark of neurodegenerative diseases, particularly Alzheimer's disease, and their distribution in the brain correlates strongly with cognitive decline. As a diagnostic tracer, 18F-FC211 is designed to bind specifically to tau neurofibrillary tangles, allowing for the non-invasive visualization and quantification of tau burden in the central nervous system. The program is currently in the preclinical stage of development.
