Drug intelligence / Profile preview
18F-FITM (also known as [18F]FITM) is an experimental radiolabeled small molecule developed by the National Institute of Radiological Sciences (now part of the National Institutes for Quantum Science and Technology) in Japan. It acts as a highly selective positron emission tomography (PET) radioligand and negative allosteric modulator targeting the metabotropic glutamate receptor subtype 1 (mGluR1). 18F-FITM is designed for noninvasive PET imaging to map the distribution, density, and drug occupancy of mGluR1 in the brain, which is of interest for studying central nervous system disorders. Additionally, it has been investigated for the imaging and characterization of mGluR1 expression in melanoma and melanoma metastases.
