18F-FluorApoTrace (also referred to as 18F-FAT) is a radiopharmaceutical PET imaging agent designed to detect apoptosis in vivo by targeting activated caspase-3, a key executioner enzyme in the apoptotic pathway. It is used primarily as a diagnostic tool in oncology clinical trials to assess treatment response by visualizing tumor cell death following chemotherapy or targeted therapies. The tracer enables non-invasive imaging of apoptosis, which can provide early indications of therapeutic efficacy before changes in tumor size are apparent.
