Drug intelligence / Profile preview
18F-JK-PSMA-07 (also known as 18F-JK-PSMA-7 or 2-methoxy-18F-DCFPyL) is a novel fluorine-18 labeled small-molecule radiopharmaceutical designed for positron emission tomography (PET) imaging of prostate cancer. It is a urea-based ligand that specifically binds to prostate-specific membrane antigen (PSMA), a transmembrane glycoprotein overexpressed in prostate cancer cells and metastatic lesions. Developed jointly by Forschungszentrum Jülich and the University Hospital of Cologne, the tracer features a methoxy group on the fluoropyridine ring of the DCFPyL scaffold, which enhances its target-to-background ratio and cellular uptake. Licensed globally to circumSPECT and co-developed with ITEL Telecomunicazioni (Itelpharma), 18F-JK-PSMA-07 has advanced to Phase 3 clinical trials for the detection and localization of recurrent prostate cancer in patients with biochemical recurrence.
