18F-LNC1001 is a diagnostic radiopharmaceutical PET imaging agent being developed by LNC Pharma for the detection and localization of prostate cancer. It consists of a small molecule targeting prostate-specific membrane antigen (PSMA) labeled with the positron-emitting radioisotope fluorine-18 (18F). PSMA is a transmembrane protein that is significantly overexpressed in prostate cancer cells compared to normal tissues, making it an ideal target for molecular imaging. Upon administration, the tracer binds to PSMA-positive lesions, allowing for high-sensitivity and high-resolution positron emission tomography (PET) imaging to aid in the diagnosis, staging, and monitoring of prostate cancer patients. The agent is currently in Phase 1 clinical trials.
