Drug intelligence / Profile preview
18F-MGX-110S (also referred to as [18F]MGX-110S) is a fluorine-18-labeled positron emission tomography (PET) radiotracer targeting G-protein coupled receptor 84 (GPR84). GPR84 is a pro-inflammatory receptor predominantly expressed on myeloid cells, such as microglia and macrophages, and is highly upregulated during innate immune activation. Developed by researchers at Stanford University in collaboration with the University of Milan, University of Glasgow, and University of Michigan, 18F-MGX-110S is designed to cross the blood-brain barrier and detect neuroinflammation and systemic inflammation. In preclinical models of Alzheimer's disease (5xFAD mice) and multiple sclerosis (EAE mice), 18F-MGX-110S demonstrated high specificity and superior sensitivity for early-stage neuroinflammation compared to traditional translocator protein 18 kDa (TSPO) PET tracers.
