18F-Pentixafor

18F-Pentixafor is a radiolabeled peptide-based imaging agent used in Positron Emission Tomography (PET). It is a derivative of the cyclic pentapeptide Pentixafor, which exhibits high affinity and specificity for the C-X-C chemokine receptor type 4 (CXCR4). CXCR4 is a G-protein-coupled receptor that is frequently overexpressed in various human cancers, particularly hematologic malignancies such as multiple myeloma, lymphoma, and leukemia, where it plays a critical role in tumor cell homing, survival, and proliferation. The 18F-labeled version of this tracer offers clinical advantages over its 68Ga-labeled counterpart, including a longer physical half-life and improved spatial resolution. In clinical research conducted by the First Affiliated Hospital of Zhejiang University, 18F-Pentixafor is utilized to non-invasively visualize and quantify CXCR4 expression, aiding in the diagnosis, staging, and evaluation of treatment response in patients with hematological cancers.
