Drug intelligence / Profile preview
18F-PR04.MZ (also written as [18F]PR04.MZ) is a fluorine-18 labeled tropane-based small molecule radiopharmaceutical developed as a positron emission tomography (PET) imaging agent. It acts as a highly selective and high-affinity ligand for the presynaptic dopamine transporter (DAT). Developed by Positronpharma SA in collaboration with academic institutions, 18F-PR04.MZ is used as a diagnostic imaging agent to evaluate nigrostriatal neuron integrity and detect dopaminergic deficits. Its primary clinical applications include the evaluation of movement disorders, such as Parkinson's disease, and the differential diagnosis of atypical parkinsonian syndromes (e.g., multiple system atrophy and progressive supranuclear palsy) from other conditions.
