Drug intelligence / Profile preview
18F-S2P is a fluorine-18 labeled peptide-based positron emission tomography (PET) radiotracer designed for the non-invasive imaging of atherosclerotic plaques. It specifically targets Stabilin-2 (STAB2), a scavenger receptor that is highly upregulated on macrophages within inflamed atherosclerotic lesions. By binding to STAB2, 18F-S2P enables the visualization and quantification of vascular inflammation and plaque burden, offering a highly sensitive diagnostic tool for large-artery atherosclerosis. The tracer is being developed by the First Affiliated Hospital of Zhejiang University School of Medicine.
