Overview

**18F-THK5105** is a radiolabeled small molecule diagnostic agent developed for positron emission tomography (PET) imaging of tau protein aggregates in the brain. It is an arylquinoline derivative labeled with fluorine-18 and acts as a selective tracer for neurofibrillary tangles composed of tau protein, which are characteristic of Alzheimer's disease and other tauopathies. The compound demonstrates high binding affinity to tau aggregates in vitro and in vivo, with rapid brain uptake and favorable pharmacokinetics compared to earlier tracers. Its primary use is as a PET imaging probe to visualize the distribution and burden of pathological tau in patients suspected of having Alzheimer's disease or related disorders[1][2][3][4][7].
