Overview

19-nor-5-androstenedione is a synthetic, orally active anabolic-androgenic steroid (AAS) and a derivative of 19-nortestosterone (nandrolone). It acts as an androgen prohormone of nandrolone and other 19-norandrostanes. Once metabolized in the body, it can increase levels of testosterone and related hormones. The compound was never introduced for medical use but was previously sold as a nutritional supplement before being classified as a controlled substance in the United States under the Anabolic Steroid Control Act of 2004. It is also prohibited by the World Anti-Doping Agency for use in competitive sports due to its performance-enhancing potential. Adverse effects are likely similar to those seen with other anabolic steroids and may include liver toxicity, cardiovascular issues, hormonal disruptions, stunted growth in adolescents, and psychological effects such as aggression or depression[1][4].
