Overview

19BBzT2 is an investigational chimeric antigen receptor (CAR) T-cell therapy developed by Wellington Zhaotai for the treatment of B-cell malignancies, including B-cell acute lymphoblastic leukemia (B-ALL) and lymphoma. The therapy consists of T cells engineered to express a CAR targeting the CD19 antigen, which is widely expressed on the surface of B-cells. The 19BBzT2 construct specifically incorporates a 4-1BB (CD137) co-stimulatory domain and a CD3-zeta signaling domain. The use of the 4-1BB domain is intended to enhance the metabolic profile, expansion, and long-term persistence of the CAR T-cells compared to constructs utilizing CD28 co-stimulation. Currently in the preclinical stage, 19BBzT2 is part of a broader pipeline of cell-based immunotherapies targeting various hematological and solid tumors.
