Drug intelligence / Profile preview
1C12 is a chimeric monoclonal antibody (IgG1) with a human Fc fragment that targets platelet factor 4 (PF4) and PF4-glycosaminoglycan (GAG) complexes. Developed by B Cell Design, 1C12 was originally designed to mimic the pathogenic autoantibodies found in patients with autoimmune heparin-induced thrombocytopenia (aHIT) and vaccine-induced immune thrombotic thrombocytopenia (VITT). It is widely utilized as a research tool and diagnostic calibrator/positive control in external quality assessment programs for HIT testing. Additionally, preclinical research has investigated Fc-inactivated versions of 1C12 as a potential therapeutic strategy to limit PF4-dependent cardiac fibrosis by inhibiting the differentiation of cardiac fibroblasts into myofibroblasts.
