1cBio's CDK7 inhibitor is a small molecule therapeutic currently in preclinical development for the treatment of various solid tumors, with a particular focus on breast cancer and breast cancer with brain metastasis. As an inhibitor of Cyclin-Dependent Kinase 7 (CDK7), the drug targets a key regulator of both the cell cycle and RNA polymerase II-mediated transcription. By blocking CDK7, the molecule disrupts the transcriptional machinery that many cancer cells depend on for survival and proliferation, while also inhibiting cell cycle progression. The program is being developed by 1cBio (also known as Team 1C) to address high unmet needs in metastatic disease, particularly where blood-brain barrier penetration or activity against brain metastases is required.
