Overview

1G3 is a monoclonal antibody specifically designed to target and block the neonatal Fc receptor (FcRn) in rats. FcRn is a key homeostatic regulator of immunoglobulin G (IgG), protecting it from lysosomal degradation and extending its serum half-life. By binding to and blocking FcRn, 1G3 promotes the catabolism of endogenous IgG, including pathogenic autoantibodies. This mechanism of action has been utilized in preclinical research to demonstrate the potential for FcRn blockade in treating antibody-mediated autoimmune diseases, such as myasthenia gravis, where reducing the concentration of pathogenic antibodies can ameliorate disease symptoms.
