Overview
1S-1-acetoxyeugenol acetate (AEA) is a cytotoxic phenylpropanoid natural compound isolated from the rhizomes of the Malaysian ethnomedicinal plant *Alpinia conchigera*. It is an analogue of 1'S-1'-acetoxychavicol acetate (ACA) and has been investigated as a potential chemotherapeutic agent against human breast cancer. AEA induces apoptosis and cell cycle arrest at the G0/G1 phase selectively in cancer cells by dysregulating the NF-κB pathway, specifically by inhibiting the phosphorylation of the inhibitor of κB-kinase (IKK) complex.
