Overview

2,3-DCPE (2-[[3-(2,3-dichlorophenoxy)propyl]amino]ethanol) is a synthetic small molecule research compound investigated for its potent anti-tumor and pro-apoptotic properties. It primarily functions by downregulating the anti-apoptotic protein Bcl-XL, thereby sensitizing various cancer cell lines to apoptosis. Additionally, 2,3-DCPE has been shown to induce S-phase cell cycle arrest and upregulate the cyclin-dependent kinase inhibitor p21 (WAF1/CIP1). This upregulation is mediated through the activation of the Extracellular Signal-Regulated Kinase (ERK) signaling pathway. Notably, the compound's activity appears to be independent of p53 and ATM status, suggesting it may be effective in treating cancers with specific genetic mutations that confer resistance to conventional therapies. Research has primarily focused on its effects in colon cancer and other solid tumor models.
