Drug intelligence / Profile preview
2,5-Dimethoxy-4-propylamphetamine (DOPR) is a psychedelic phenethylamine and substituted amphetamine derivative of the DOx family. Originally synthesized by Alexander Shulgin, DOPR acts as a potent agonist of the serotonin 5-HT2 receptors, particularly 5-HT2A and 5-HT2C. It is being investigated preclinically by the University of California San Diego and Gilgamesh Pharmaceuticals for its potential to treat neuropsychiatric disorders characterized by amotivated states, such as depression and schizophrenia. Preclinical studies in mice have demonstrated that low, sub-hallucinogenic doses (microdoses) of DOPR can significantly increase effortful motivation without inducing the head-twitch response associated with hallucinogenic effects.
