2,6-Diamino-8-propylsulfanylmethyl-3H-quinazoline-4-one is a synthetic small molecule belonging to the quinazolinamine class. It has been studied as an experimental inhibitor of prokaryotic tRNA–guanine transglycosylase (TGT), an enzyme involved in tRNA modification. The compound was designed and evaluated for its ability to bind and inhibit TGT from Zymomonas mobilis and related bacteria. Its mechanism involves competitive inhibition at the active site of TGT by mimicking the natural substrate guanine or its analogues[1][5][10]. There are no approved indications or clinical uses; it is primarily used in biochemical research.
