2-(Beta-D-Glucopyranosyl)-5-Methyl-1,3,4-Oxadiazole is a synthetic small molecule belonging to the class of C-glycosyl compounds. Its structure features a beta-D-glucopyranosyl group attached to a methyl-substituted 1,3,4-oxadiazole ring. This compound has been studied as an experimental inhibitor of glycogen phosphorylase and related enzymes involved in glucose metabolism. It has demonstrated low micromolar inhibition against rabbit muscle glycogen phosphorylase b in vitro[5]. The compound is not approved for clinical use and remains at the experimental stage with no known clinical trials or marketed formulations[6].
