Overview

2-Aminoethoxydiphenylborate (commonly abbreviated as AAPB or more widely as 2-APB) is an organoboron compound used primarily in research settings. It acts as a modulator of intracellular calcium signaling by inhibiting inositol trisphosphate (IP3) receptors and various transient receptor potential (TRP) channels. At higher concentrations it can activate certain TRP channels such as TRPV1, TRPV2, and TRPV3. Additionally, it inhibits gap junctions formed by connexin proteins and modifies store-operated calcium channel (SOC) function—low concentrations enhance SOC activity while high concentrations cause transient activation followed by inhibition. Its lack of specificity limits its use for some experimental applications[10][1].
