Overview

2-DG lymphocytes (also known as glycan-modified T lymphocytes) is an autologous T-cell therapy platform developed by Medinet Medical Institute. The technology involves the ex vivo culture of T lymphocytes in the presence of 2-deoxyglucose (2-DG), a glucose analog that interferes with N-linked glycosylation. This metabolic conditioning is designed to modify the glycan profile of the T cells, which is intended to enhance their persistence, metabolic fitness, and anti-tumor activity upon re-infusion. While Medinet initially explored 2-DG lymphocytes as a standalone therapeutic for cancer, the company has discontinued standalone development to focus on utilizing the glycan-modification process as a platform technology to improve the efficacy of CAR-T and TCR-T cell therapies.
