CV-3611 (2-O-octadecylascorbic acid) is a lipophilic derivative of L-ascorbic acid (Vitamin C) developed by Takeda Chemical Industries. It was designed to enhance the lipid solubility and metabolic stability of natural ascorbic acid, allowing for better integration into cellular membranes. CV-3611 acts as a potent scavenger of active oxygen species (AOS) and free radicals, thereby mitigating oxidative stress and associated cellular damage. Preclinical research in murine models has demonstrated that CV-3611 can suppress the spontaneous development of hepatocellular carcinomas, specifically by inhibiting the conversion of liver adenomas into malignant carcinomas. Despite its promising antioxidant profile in early studies, there is no evidence of recent clinical development or commercialization.
