Drug intelligence / Profile preview
2-selenocyano-3-methoxyestradiol-17-benzoate (compound 7e) is a synthetic steroidal selenocyanate derivative investigated for its antitumor properties. It is synthesized by introducing a selenocyano group at the 2-position of the estradiol scaffold, with additional methoxy and benzoate modifications. In preclinical studies, compound 7e demonstrated selective inhibitory activity against HeLa cervical cancer cell lines with an IC50 of 4.1 µM, primarily by inducing programmed apoptosis. Furthermore, it has shown efficacy in vivo by significantly inhibiting the growth of human cervical cancer xenografts in zebrafish models.
