Overview
The 2011-2012 seasonal trivalent influenza vaccine was a formulation recommended by the World Health Organization (WHO) and adopted by the National Advisory Committee on Immunization (NACI) for use in the Northern Hemisphere during the 2011-2012 influenza season. It contained the same three viral components as the 2010-2011 vaccine: * A/California/7/2009 (H1N1)-like virus * A/Perth/16/2009 (H3N2)-like virus * B/Brisbane/60/2008-like virus (B Victoria lineage) For this season, the Advisory Committee on Immunization Practices (ACIP) expanded recommendations to include annual vaccination for all persons aged 6 months and older, unless contraindicated, due to concerns about the H1N1 virus risk in certain adult populations. NACI recommended a full dose for children aged 6 to 35 months.
