Drug intelligence / Profile preview
20kPEG-AM is a polyethylene glycol (PEG)ylated form of human adrenomedullin (AM), a hypotensive peptide known for its anti-colitis activity. It is synthesized through the conjugation of PEG-AM (1–15) and AM (15–52). This modified peptide functions by stimulating cyclic adenosine monophosphate (cAMP) production in cells that stably express the type 1 AM receptor. Preclinical studies in murine models of colitis have shown that subcutaneous administration of 20kPEG-AM significantly reduces total inflammation scores, indicating its potential as a therapeutic candidate for inflammatory bowel diseases. The drug exhibits a half-life of 7.4 hours following subcutaneous administration in mice.
