Overview

213Bi-isotype control antibody is a radiolabeled monoclonal antibody used as a negative control in radioimmunotherapy (RIT) research. It consists of the alpha-emitting radioisotope Bismuth-213 (213Bi) conjugated to a non-specific, isotype-matched monoclonal antibody that does not target a specific antigen in the study system (e.g., human aspartyl (asparaginyl) β-hydroxylase). In preclinical studies for acute myeloid leukemia (AML), it is used to demonstrate that the cytotoxic effects of the targeted agent (such as 213Bi-DTPA-PAN-622) are due to specific antigen binding rather than non-specific radiation exposure. The antibody is typically modified with a chelator like DTPA to facilitate the binding of the 213Bi isotope.
