The combination "23vPPV + TIV" refers to the co-administration of **23-valent pneumococcal polysaccharide vaccine (23vPPV**, also known as **PPSV23)** and **trivalent inactivated influenza vaccine (TIV)**. **23vPPV** is a pneumococcal polysaccharide vaccine containing purified preparations of capsular polysaccharide from 23 pneumococcal serotypes. Each dose contains 25 μg of each antigen and 0.25% phenol as a preservative. It is designed to prevent invasive pneumococcal disease (IPD) and is approximately 60-70% effective against IPD caused by vaccine serotypes. **TIV** is a trivalent inactivated influenza vaccine that protects against three influenza virus strains (typically two influenza A and one influenza B). Examples include Fluzone and Fluarix. Studies have shown that concomitant administration of these vaccines is immunogenic and safe. While they can be given together, they should be administered at different injection sites.
