**25-OCH3-PPD** is a dammarane-type triterpene sapogenin isolated primarily from *Panax notoginseng* (and also from *P. ginseng*). It exists mainly as two stereoisomers (20(S)-25-OCH3-PPD and 20(R)-25-OCH3-PPD) due to the chiral C-20 position. The compound has a methoxy group at the C-25 position of its side chain and is structurally similar to ginsenoside PPD derivatives but differs by this methoxy substitution. Preclinical studies have shown that 25-OCH3-PPD exhibits robust anticancer activity, with mechanisms including inhibition of tumor cell proliferation, induction of apoptosis, and downregulation of oncogenic proteins through effects on pathways such as Wnt/β-catenin, MDM2-p53, and ERK/MAPK signaling. The (S)-isomer in particular demonstrates greater anti-proliferative activity and bioavailability compared to the (R)-isomer. The drug is not yet approved or in advanced clinical studies, with development status limited to preclinical and animal model evaluation. Its primary route of administration in studies is oral or intravenous.
