Overview
The 26-valent pneumococcal conjugate vaccine (PCV26) is a multivalent conjugate vaccine developed by Beijing Zhifei Lvzhu Biopharmaceutical, a subsidiary of Zhifei Biotech, for the prevention of pneumococcal disease. It is designed to induce active immunization against 26 serotypes of *Streptococcus pneumoniae* by conjugating pneumococcal capsular polysaccharide antigens to a carrier protein, which enhances immunogenicity particularly in infants and elderly populations. The vaccine is currently in Phase I/II clinical trials in China for individuals aged 2 months and older, and in Phase I clinical trials in Australia for adults aged 60 and older.
