Drug intelligence / Profile preview
27T51 is an investigational chimeric antigen receptor (CAR) T cell therapy developed by Regeneron Pharmaceuticals. It targets the Mucin-16 (MUC16) protein, which is overexpressed in certain gynecologic cancers. The drug is being evaluated as a treatment for recurrent or refractory epithelial ovarian cancer, primary peritoneal cancer, and fallopian tube cancer. The mechanism of action involves genetically engineered T cells that recognize and kill tumor cells expressing MUC16 through immunologic cytotoxicity and replacement of dysfunctional or absent T lymphocytes. Clinical development is currently in Phase I trials to assess safety and preliminary efficacy both as monotherapy and in combination with other agents[1][2][3][4][5][7].
