Drug intelligence / Profile preview
28-norolean-12-en-3β-ol is a pentacyclic triterpenoid isolated from the medicinal mushroom *Fuscoporia torulosa*. It is a nor-derivative of β-amyrin, characterized by the loss of the C-28 methyl group. In preclinical evaluations, this compound has demonstrated significant cytotoxic activity against the PC-3 prostate cancer cell line. Additionally, it serves as an inhibitor of both acetylcholinesterase (AChE) and butyrylcholinesterase (BChE), enzymes that play a critical role in the regulation of acetylcholine levels. These dual properties suggest that 28-norolean-12-en-3β-ol may have potential therapeutic applications in oncology and the management of neurodegenerative diseases such as Alzheimer's disease.
