Drug intelligence / Profile preview
2800 ppm F as MFP is an investigational, high-fluoride dentifrice (toothpaste) formulated with 2800 parts per million (ppm) of fluoride delivered as sodium monofluorophosphate (MFP). Developed by Procter & Gamble, this formulation is used in clinical research to evaluate dose-response relationships, salivary fluoride clearance, and remineralization efficacy for the prevention and reduction of dental caries (tooth decay). Upon topical application, MFP is hydrolyzed by salivary enzymes to release free fluoride ions, which physically interact with hydroxyapatite in dental enamel. This process inhibits demineralization and promotes the remineralization of early carious lesions by forming acid-resistant fluorapatite, thereby strengthening the tooth structure against acid challenges.
