2b-B is a synthetic, symmetric curcuminoid derivative featuring a difluoroboron (BF2) complexed beta-diketone moiety and 2-(morpholin-4-yl)ethoxy substituents. It was developed to overcome the pharmacokinetic limitations of natural curcumin, such as poor water solubility and low bioavailability. 2b-B exhibits approximately 15-33 times higher water solubility than curcumin and demonstrates potent in vitro cytotoxic activity against human bladder cancer cell lines, including 5637 (grade II carcinoma) and SCaBER (squamous cell carcinoma). As a microtubule-targeting agent, it interferes with cellular structural integrity to inhibit tumor cell proliferation. The compound also possesses fluorescent properties, facilitating studies of its intracellular uptake and localization, which typically peaks within two hours of incubation.
