2C5-QD-Mic is a tumor-targeted near-infrared imaging agent composed of the cancer-specific monoclonal anti-nucleosome antibody 2C5 coupled to quantum dot (QD)-containing polymeric micelles. The micelles are prepared from a polyethylene glycol/phosphatidylethanolamine (PEG-PE) conjugate. This nanocarrier system is designed to enhance the delivery and fluorescence intensity of quantum dots at tumor sites by utilizing the 2C5 antibody's ability to recognize nucleosomes that are frequently exposed on the surface of various cancer cells. In preclinical studies, 2C5-QD-Mic demonstrated a twofold increase in tumor fluorescence compared to non-targeted micelles, suggesting its potential for sensitive optical imaging and detection of tumors with minimal invasiveness.
