Drug intelligence / Profile preview
2K1 is a specialized dietary supplement formulation containing a combination of two essential forms of Vitamin K: Vitamin K1 (phytonadione) and Vitamin K2 (specifically the menaquinone-4 or MK-4 isoform). Developed and manufactured by Bio-Tech Pharmacal, this product is designed to support bone density and cardiovascular health by leveraging the synergistic effects of different Vitamin K vitamers. Vitamin K1 is primarily known for its role in the hepatic synthesis of blood coagulation factors, while Vitamin K2 (MK-4) plays a critical role in extra-hepatic tissues, particularly in the regulation of calcium metabolism. By activating osteocalcin in bone and matrix Gla protein (MGP) in the vasculature, the components of 2K1 help direct calcium into the bone matrix and prevent its deposition in arterial walls, thereby supporting skeletal integrity and arterial flexibility.
