Drug intelligence / Profile preview
2Mix-MP antibiotic paste is a combination formulation containing the antibiotics ciprofloxacin and metronidazole, mixed with a vehicle of macrogol and propylene glycol (MP). It is used in dentistry for the Lesion Sterilization and Tissue Repair (LSTR) technique, a non-instrumental endodontic treatment for primary teeth with necrotic pulp or irreversible pulpitis. The paste is applied directly to the pulp chamber to disinfect the root canal system and promote tissue repair, avoiding the need for conventional pulpectomy or tooth extraction. Ciprofloxacin provides broad-spectrum antibacterial activity against aerobic bacteria by inhibiting DNA gyrase and topoisomerase IV, while metronidazole targets anaerobic bacteria by causing DNA strand breaks.
