Drug intelligence / Profile preview
2Mix-NS Antibiotic Paste is an endodontic intracanal medicament used in the Lesion Sterilization and Tissue Repair (LSTR) technique for the treatment of pulp necrosis and irreversible pulpitis in primary teeth. It is a double antibiotic paste (DAP) formulation consisting of a 1:1 mixture of ciprofloxacin and metronidazole, with normal saline (NS) utilized as the vehicle to form a paste. Ciprofloxacin acts by inhibiting bacterial DNA gyrase and topoisomerase IV, while metronidazole targets anaerobic bacteria by causing DNA strand breakage. This combination provides broad-spectrum bactericidal activity against the polymicrobial microflora of infected root canals, promoting disinfection and subsequent tissue repair without the need for extensive mechanical instrumentation.
