Overview

3'-O-methyltaxifolin is a methylated flavonoid derivative isolated from plants such as *Pulicaria jaubertii*. It is a structural analog of taxifolin (dihydroquercetin) and has been investigated for its potential antineoplastic properties. In vitro studies on colon cancer cell lines (HCT-116) indicate that the compound can induce apoptosis, characterized by chromatin condensation, nuclear shrinkage, and the upregulation of caspase-3 and caspase-9. Molecular docking simulations suggest that its mechanism of action may involve binding to pro-apoptotic and anti-apoptotic proteins, including Bcl-xl and JAK2, thereby modulating cell survival and proliferation pathways.
