Overview

3,4-Methylenedioxy-N-isopropylamphetamine (MDI-P, MDIP, MDIPA) is a psychoactive compound belonging to the phenethylamine and substituted amphetamine chemical classes. It is the N-isopropyl analogue of 3,4-methylenedioxyamphetamine (MDA). First synthesized by Alexander Shulgin, MDI-P has been investigated for its potential therapeutic effects in conditions such as HIV infection and cystic fibrosis. In vitro studies have demonstrated potent anti-HIV activity with effectiveness in killing HIV in cell culture. There are also reports of mild analgesic activity in animal models. However, very little is known about its pharmacology, pharmacokinetics, clinical effects or toxicity in humans[1][2][10].
