Overview

3-(2-chloropropyl amide)-4-methoxy-N-phenylbenzamide, also known as L17, is a novel N-phenylbenzamide derivative being investigated for its antiviral and antineoplastic properties against human papillomavirus (HPV)-associated malignancies. It specifically targets HPV type 16 (HPV16) by inhibiting the expression of the viral oncoproteins E6 and E7. These oncoproteins are critical for the onset and maintenance of cervical cancer, as they degrade tumor suppressors p53 and pRb, respectively. By suppressing E6 and E7, L17 promotes the restoration of these tumor suppressors, leading to growth inhibition and apoptosis in cervical cancer cells.
