Drug intelligence / Profile preview
3-Allylfentanyl is a synthetic opioid analgesic and a structural analogue of fentanyl. It acts as an agonist at opioid receptors, primarily the mu-opioid receptor, producing effects similar to fentanyl but with significantly lower potency—approximately 0.13 to 0.14 times as potent by weight compared to fentanyl (ED50 in rats of 80 μg/kg versus 11 μg/kg for fentanyl)[1][2]. The addition of an allyl group reduces its potency relative to the parent compound. Like other opioids in this class, it can cause side effects such as itching, nausea, and potentially life-threatening respiratory depression[1][2]. There is no evidence that it has been developed or marketed for medical use; it is considered a non-pharmaceutical fentanyl derivative.
