3-alpha-sorbithoxyglucose is a novel glycoside isolated from the inner bark of the *Sclerocarya birrea* tree. Identified through phytochemical analysis of dichloromethane-methanol extracts, the compound has demonstrated potential as an antimicrobial agent. In vitro studies have shown minimum inhibitory concentration (MIC) values ranging from 15.625 to 250 μg/mL against a variety of Gram-positive and Gram-negative bacteria, including *Staphylococcus aureus*, *Escherichia coli*, and *Mycobacterium smegmatis*. While it lacks significant cytotoxic effects against breast (MCF7) and prostate (DU145, PC3, LNCaP) cancer cell lines, its antibacterial profile suggests it may serve as a lead for future antimicrobial development.
