It has been studied as an experimental inhibitor of the RNA-dependent RNA polymerase (NS5B) of hepatitis C virus (HCV), showing potent in vitro activity against this viral enzyme. The compound is not approved for clinical use and remains at the preclinical or early research stage, with no evidence of development for other indications[5][7]. Its mechanism involves direct inhibition of HCV NS5B polymerase, which is essential for viral replication.
