Drug intelligence / Profile preview
3-PLG-A-GSH is an experimental 3-armed poly(L-glutamic acid) (PLG) polypeptide nanocarrier dual-functionalized with alanine (A) and glutathione (GSH) ligands. It is designed to enhance drug delivery across the blood-brain barrier (BBB) by targeting nutrient transporters on cerebral endothelial cells. The combination of alanine and glutathione ligands facilitates active, time-dependent cellular uptake and increased permeability through the BBB. Research has demonstrated its ability to enter midbrain-like organoids, including those derived from Parkinson's disease patient-specific stem cells, suggesting potential applications in treating central nervous system disorders.
