Drug intelligence / Profile preview
30 milliliters of 0.9% NaCl is a sterile, physiologically inert normal saline solution used as a placebo comparator in clinical trials. In the context of trial NCT03600129, sponsored by the Centre of Postgraduate Medical Education, it is administered via bilateral, ultrasound-guided Quadratus Lumborum Block (QLB) to patients undergoing endoscopic (laparoscopic) prostatectomy. It serves as the inactive control arm to evaluate the efficacy of ropivacaine for postoperative pain management. Because it is a simple saline solution, it possesses no intrinsic pharmacological activity or specific biological targets.
