317615.2HCl is a small molecule inhibitor of protein kinase C beta (PKCβ), developed as an antiangiogenic and antitumor agent. In preclinical studies, it decreases intratumoral blood vessels and demonstrates antitumor activity, notably by delaying tumor growth in models of hepatocellular carcinoma, gastric carcinoma, and Lewis lung carcinoma. It enhances the efficacy of standard chemotherapeutics such as cisplatin, 5-fluorouracil, gemcitabine, paclitaxel, and carboplatin when used in combination. Its antitumor effects are achieved primarily by inhibiting PKCβ, resulting in reduced angiogenesis and tumor progression. Oral administration in animal models shows decreased vascularization (by CD31 and CD105 staining) and significant tumor growth delay.
